Sunniva has supervised and taught at the Raroa Music Centre since the mid-1980s and has easily been the longest serving member of the RMC team. She studied recorder and flute at both the University of Canterbury (Christchurch, New Zealand) and the Sweelinck Conservatorium (Amsterdam, the Netherlands). Sunniva subsequently completed a degree in organisational pscyhology and business administration, as well as various post-graduate papers in industrial law and business studies.

She has spent the past 20 years managing ECE centres, the RMC music centre for the Ministry of Education and working on contract for a number of Public Service organizations as project coordinator and contract manager.

With her own four growing children at school, Sunniva has become increasingly involved in her free time with promoting New Zealand musicians and composers, organising performances, commissioning music and promoting New Zealand music to the world. She provides the strategic direction and organisational support for the Caprice Arts Trust (www.capricearts.org.nz).
