Hiring or Buying Instruments 2012

You will need an instrument to practice on at home and to bring to class. There are keyboards at the centre for lessons but you will need a keyboard or piano at home to practice on.

Hiring an instrument
It costs $120 per year to hire an instrument at Raroa Music Centre. You can hire a:

  • cello,
  • flute,
  • brass (trumpet or trombone),
  • clarinet or
  • saxophone.

Students can hire one instrument each year, but if there are spare instruments the Parent Committee may consider allowing a student to hire two instruments.

When you are enrolling online don’t forget to hire an instrument if you need one.

Buying an instrument

Recorders
We prefer that you buy a recorder directly from Raroa Music Centre as we need to ensure the recorder is a suitable standard for your child to learn on. Please bring $12 to the first lesson and purchase the recorder from the teacher.

Guitars
The Music Warehouse will have Carlos brand guitars for sale in the staffroom on Saturday 18 February (the first day of classes) from 8.30 to 11.30am. Staff will tell you the right size guitar for your child.

We will only be selling the natural colour. If you want to purchase one in black, red, or blue you will need to visit the Music Warehouse yourself.

Price:

  • $99 for 1/2 size
  • $115 for 3/4
  • $125 for full size

Drums pads and drum sticks
Drum students are required to buy a drum practice pad and drum sticks at their first lesson. The cost is $100 which must be brought to the first lesson.

Any other instruments
If you need advice on buying any other instrument, email the supervisor, Sunniva, with your name and contact details, plus the age of your child and the instrument you want.
