FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DO I REGISTER AT RMC?

When registration is live, our How to Register page has instructions for how to register in 3 easy steps. We'll ask you to fill out an online application for each student and pay your programme fees to complete your registration.

Registration is two parts and done via our website: 1) purchase your registration and then 2) book your classes. When your registration is complete, you will receive a confirmation email and can then log into the website and check your classes under 'My Bookings'.

HOW OLD DO STUDENTS NEED TO BE TO REGISTER AT RMC?

Students from age 5-12 are welcome at Raroa Music Centre. Please be sure to check the course desciprtion for age requirements. Email supervisor@raroamusic.org.nz with any further questions.

WHAT CLASSES AND INSTRUMENTS ARE OFFERED AT RMC?

Raroa Music Centre offers tuition in 12 different instruments, including orchestra, from beginner to advanced level - cello, clarinet, drums, flute, guitar, keyboard, music basics, orchestra, recorder, saxophone, ukulele, and violin.

WHEN DOES RMC MEET?

Our classes meet on Saturdays from 9am-1:30pm during the school year. We do not have classes during school holidays or over public holiday weekends.

HOW MUCH DOES RMC COST PER YEAR?

Raroa Music Centre has three student registration types and also offers instrument hire for select instruments:

1.) One student registration + koha: $110 per year [$70 student fee + $40 suggested koha]. This includes registration for up to 3 classes, or 4 classes including orchestra. Parent volunteering is not required.

2.) One student registration: $70 per year. This includes registration for up to 3 classes, or 4 classes including orchestra. Parent volunteering is required.

3.) Additional student registration: $30 per year. This is for siblings from the same family. This includes registration for up to 3 classes, or 4 classes including orchestra. Parent volunteering is dependent on how you registered the first student.

4.) Instrument hire: $150 per year. We offer instrument hire for cello, clarinet, flute, and saxophone. Families may hire one instrument per family each year.

Students must also purchase required resources for their classes, including music and instruments, before the first day of classes. A required resouce list will appear on the Programme Information page when registration is live.

I NEED TO CANCEL OR SWITCH A CLASS, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

The deadline for refunds and to switch classes is the Monday following the second week of classes in Term 1.


Please email the supervisor with your specific class information to cancel or switch a class. If you're switching classes after the deadline, you must have permission from your tutor and they must also be cc:'ed in the message. (supervisor@raroamusic.org.nz).

THE CLASS I'M TRYING TO REGISTER FOR IS FULL, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Be sure to check our Programme Information page and timetable to see if there's another course available at that time. If your course is not available, please email the supervisor to be put on the waitlist (supervisor@raroamusic.org.nz).

Students on the waitlist are encouraged to come to the first class and speak directly with their tutor who will advise the next steps.
